Angel in Hell

Here is a little snippet, where the hero meets the heroine…

He furled his wings as he strode swiftly out of the sea. His loincloth had been ripped away by the strong winds and the waves. He was as naked as the day he was born. As he reached the beach he heard her sobbing. He looked at the dunes and saw a female form curled into a foetal ball. He noticed the violet wings hiding her face. They were neither so long nor so strong as his own, but the colour was rich and beautiful. Then he gasped as he saw the raw, red welts upon her bottom and the top of her thighs. Ye gods, who has done that to her? She was naked, too. Maybe that was the custom on this island. She sobbed piteously, and he leaned down and took her arm. She pulled away and moaned.

“No more please. I can stand no more,” she begged without looking at him.
